4D Server 2004.6 and higher are certified to run under Windows Vista.

I'm wondering how many high transaction systems are running this

configuration? I'm asking because 4D Tech Support has recommended we

change from Windows Server 2003 to Vista to realize greater cache size

and other memory management improvements.

Our 4D application needs to be up almost 24x7 and has up to 210

concurrent users of a 20GB data file. Our IT folks are quite concerned

about running our mission critical application on Vista.

Anyone out there with a similar situation running under Vista?

Thanks for any comments,

Tom Benedict

Tom,

I wouldn't expect any problems in terms of reliability -- the kernel of

Vista is based on the Server 2003 kernel and SP1 seems very stable. My

concern would be how aggressively Vista caches the filesystem. I'd
check

online or in books to see if there's a way to reduce the amount that

Vista tries to cache.
