Index Compacting?

The LAST I hard, having this on could lead to data corruption...
But that was with version 2003 I believe...anybody have any
authoritative
word in 2004? V11?

Last I heard/read Index Compacting should be turned off for best

for one thing, the related DATABASE PARAMETER was removed in v11 SQL.
