I put my notebook on sleep without realizing I was still logged in 4D.
After awhile, I waked my notebook and found that I could work with the
remote server without problem, no -10002 error!

No wonder 4D kept claiming v11 is WAN friendly. I am wondering how long
this keep-alive connection would be maintained or it would be affected
by
Database parameters.

I didn't even check Use Automatic Client Reconnection.

Any idea?

You can use Set Database Parameters for idle connections timeout.
However,
this function was broken on PPC Mac.

are also issues with routers involved
between you and the server.

Now if I could only figure out how to track down what router is
dropping my connection...

This is interesting. Does it mean if this is run in Startup method
which
is supposed to be Application Process, this timout won't help? If the
Application Process connection was interrupted, how could it help for
other processes:-)

Idle Connections Timeout won't work on PPC. In fact, it will make it
worse. Miyako has filed this bug on last October. Unfortunately, it is
even shown on Open Bug List. It seems to me that this is not planned
to be
fixed, at least not soon. Simply put, if you/your clients have PPC mac
around, you might have problem running v11 regardless WAN or LAN.

We found this out on test run of converted apps on a beta site. We are
glad that we didn't deploy the app for other planned upgrade sites.

No help at all on PPC Macs.
