cannot speak about the positioning of
Foundation Shell; let's let the other Walt Nelson, owner of Foundation,
speak about that. But I can tell you about the positioning of
4DAPPBUILDER
PRO.

Marius & Walt,

Foundation Shell was 'inherited' by me from Dave Batton as he was
leaving the 4D world to tackle a new challenge in iOS development.

I had used Foundation Shell in virtually ALL of my custom 4D work for
over 100 clients since it became available in 1993. Before that I had
used G4 Shell by John Zoltai and Skeleton before that.

Having a good shell that takes you from building tables, fields and
forms to a professional custom 4D application just makes good business
sense.

Foundation Shell is a stand alone 4D Component that you can add to any
existing 4D database by simply copying it into your Components folder
and making a few modifications to your input and output layouts.

There is a demo video at:

http://www.foundationshell.com/video-tutorials/

that shows you how to integrate Foundation into a 4D database in under
8 minutes.

The major benefit (as I see it) between 4DAPPBUILDER PRO and
Foundation is that Foundation is a component. Any bug fixes,
enhancements, etc, are added by simply replacing the Foundation
component. No need to worry about modifying YOUR database structure
when a new version of Foundation is released.

Foundation is based on over 20 years of rock-solid performance.

It simply works.

Walt,

Absolutely! Anything that can bring NEW users to 4D will be a good
thing.

I applaud what you are trying to do and hope many others join you in
your 'open-source' 4D shell project.

I have tried to grow the 3rd Party 4D community with the Foundation
App Store. There are some happy authors over at that store with some
wonderful products I use EVERY day!

I have learned a lot from the Foundation user community, and I'm sure
you will from yours.

Good luck!

Walt (the other Walt),

Well said.

There is not just McDonald's. There is also KFC, Burger King, Wendy's,
Arby's, and many more.

support five or ten shells, not just two. This (4D) is a fantastic
